Last month, our sweet River, Mother of the House of Bast, left us. I was going through the posts, looking for *just* the right picture for here, when I saw this picture of her with Isobel. It's an early photo of Isobel, it looked like it was taken before MacIntyre and the other kittens had left the House. Even with the biological mother near, River still stepped in to help care for the kittens, as she had for Marvin and Celeste, and Benny and Bailey. As she would with Ranefer and Rahotep. Because that's who she was.  She was our friend and we miss her.
